#AskPracMed – Someone has been knocked unconscious on site – what do I do?

Being knocked unconscious is always a medical emergency. This is not a situation where you stand someone up, give them a minute, and carry on with the job. Anyone who loses consciousness needs to go to hospital for assessment, regardless of how quickly they appear to recover. Manage their airway, monitor their breathing, and call for emergency services. Loss of consciousness can indicate serious injury that is not immediately visible.
