See it in action.

A look inside a PracMed scenario.

More tools in the toolbox.

Your people already know their job. What is hard to build in-house is realism: casualties that bleed and deteriorate, bystanders who get in the way, and a scene that keeps developing while your team works it.

We build for the worst day your team could face: an Alpine Fault response, a cut-off community with dozens injured, and a long wait for help.

That is what we bring. We design the scenario around your operating environment, bring skilled role players and professional moulage on site, and run it at the pace a real incident moves. Your team tests their skills, their equipment, their teamwork and their intra-team communication under realistic pressure, with no real consequences.

Every session is fully facilitated, and objective feedback provides true confidence in capability.

Two ways to work with us

Book training, book a live scenario, or combine them. You don’t need one to have the other.

01

Training

Build the skills, the teamwork and the intra-team communication. A programme designed around your teams and delivered crawl-walk-run: core skills first, then guided scenarios, then full-pace practice. Ongoing training keeps skills current long after the course, and NZQA unit standards can be built in.

02

Live scenarios

Test what your team already has. A full-pace, live run-through with role players, moulage and independent assessment, followed by a hot debrief and a written report. There’s no training needed beforehand.

What we build

Every programme is designed with your organisation and your response teams in mind, then run like our standard courses: highly moderated, feedback-looped and repeatable. Custom where it matters, consistent every time, and ready to scale across every team.

01

Scenario development

Designed from your environment, your SOPs, your equipment and your hazards. From a single casualty through to a multi-agency mass- or ultra-mass-casualty exercise.

02

Role players and injury simulation

Skilled role players, professional moulage and realistic medical and traumatic injury simulation. Casualties that respond to what your team does, and to what it misses.

03

Assessment and debrief

Independent observation against objectives agreed with your leadership, a hot debrief on site, and a written report with a scorecard and actionable recommendations.

From point of injury through to response.

We build the whole programme, whether it’s training or a live scenario, so every layer of your response is covered.

  1. Point of injuryFirst contact, hazard assessment and life-saving and life-preserving interventions in the first minutes.
  2. Scene control and triageThe scene develops with every action and inaction: new casualties, changing hazards, bystanders and competing demands. Decision making, intra-team communication and triage under pressure.
  3. Treatment, evacuation and prolonged careSustained care in austere conditions, and staying with a casualty for hours when help is delayed: monitoring, reassessment, and managing pain, infection and deterioration, through to packaging and movement to a casualty collection point.
  4. Handover and coordinationClinical handover and multi-agency coordination, through to stand-down.

Delivered by operationally experienced trainers.

PracMed NZ is veteran owned and operated. Our educators are veterans and first responders who have served in humanitarian and disaster relief operations in New Zealand and overseas, so the exercises we build reflect how incidents really unfold. They can tell your team what a major response looks, sounds and smells like, so nothing distracts them on the day.

Every programme is evidence-based and has clinical oversight from our Medical Director, Dr Inia Raumati, a senior emergency doctor at Auckland City Hospital and a former NZDF medical officer.

We work alongside your trainers and leadership. You set the objectives. We bring the realism, the role players and an independent set of eyes.

Frequently asked questions

Can you build a scenario around our own SOPs and equipment?

Yes. That is the starting point. We design every scenario around your procedures, your kit and your operating environment, and agree the objectives with your leadership before it runs.

Do we have to do the training before a scenario?

No. You can book a live scenario on its own to test the skills your team already has, book training on its own, or combine them: train first, then test it live.

If it is custom, is it consistent?

Yes. We design the programme around your teams and your hazards, then deliver it like our standard courses: moderated, reviewed against feedback, and repeatable. Every team gets the same standard, whether you train one crew or six.

Do you run mass casualty and multi-agency exercises?

Yes. We scale from a single-casualty scenario for one crew through to mass casualty exercises involving multiple teams and agencies.

Where do you deliver?

Anywhere in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific, and beyond: on your site, a training ground or a location that matches the environment you operate in.

Can the training count toward NZQA unit standards?

Yes. We are an NZQA Category 1 provider and can build unit standard-based training alongside your exercise, so skills are assessed and credited as well as practised.

How is pricing worked out?

Every exercise is custom, so pricing depends on scale, duration, role players and location. We quote after a short, obligation-free scoping call with one of our lead trainers.
