KIWI VETERAN OWNED AND OPERATED

#AskPracMed – What should every site first aid kit have in it?

Every site first aid kit should prioritise life-threatening haemorrhage control above everything else. Workers in blue-collar environments are significantly more likely to experience serious injury than office-based workers, and the most preventable cause of death is uncontrolled bleeding. Two non-negotiables: a tourniquet — we recommend the SOF-T Wide, which doesn’t rely on velcro and performs in mud, blood, sawdust, and sand — and a layered trauma bandage for junctional injuries where a tourniquet can’t be applied. Beyond that, build out the kit based on your environment and your team’s training level. Gear you don’t know how to use is expensive clutter.
